Portfolio

Here I'd like to show case a few papers I wrote during the Spring 2025 semester in Cell Biology and Sports Nutrition, which I am proud of. I might also include some of my technical writing assignments from the summer 2025 semester to diversify the portfolio.

Sports Nutrition

There was an end of the semester project for this course. It involved writing a paper based on a nutritional assessment of an athlete, and breaking down their current nutrition intake and providing a suggested meal plan. There was a nutrient analysis of this as well, and discussion on the nutrients.

Cell Biology

The final project for Cell Biology involved creating a proposal for an experiment that could not be done in class, based off of results from two cytotoxicity experiments and a qPCR test. Halfway through the semester our groups chose a drug to investigate its IC50. We went with caffeine and opted to test doses based on commonly consumed by people. Please feel free to read about our proposal for investigating the effects of caffeine on our cells through structural changes by using transmission electron microscopy. We discuss more on our rationale for caffeine and its dosages, as well as the effects seen on our cells from our prior experiments.

The names of my group members have been abbreviated for privacy. My role in the group involved most of the writing, so I feel comfortable sharing this work. Other group members participated through editing and formatting the paper and figures.

Technical Writing

This class has been useful in learning the foundations of writing that applies to many different areas. One of the assignments was to create a fact sheet on any topic, so I decided to provide go with carbs/sugar. I've also included another project for the class that was interesting. We had to read H.G. Wells The Time Machine, and used it as inspiration for many of our assignments, so it combined fiction with real-world writing. One of the assignments we did involved creating an instruction manual for operating the time machine. We had to recognize the audience (physicists) and apply the C.R.A.P. principle to organize our document, as well as applying creativity to operating a fictional machine.
